Joy began Staging when the industry was in its infancy in early 2005. She knew that this was the perfect career to combine her creative talents and her practical nature. Tom got on board after seeing the importance of Staging first hand when he sold his last home. Tom and Joy joined forces in spring of 2007 and have been going strong ever since.
They were both personally trained by Barb Schwarz, the acknowledged founder of the industry, and got their ASP (Accredited Staging Professional) designations by the only California recognized school for Staging, StagedHomes.com. Tom then went on to earn his ASPM designation (ASP Master) by taking an intensive training course that only Barb Schwarz teaches. By doing so, he joins an elite group of Stagers that embody the teachings and ethics of the original Staging philosophy.
Joy's background has been in home decorating and business management, and Tom's had a lengthy career in the building industry and has managed and maintained several of his rental houses, so he's very familiar with the construction and real estate industries. Together they make an impressive duo. Since they think in typical Mars/Venus patterns, one is able to see what the other cannot, thus coming up with many creative solutions.
Tom & Joy belong to IAHSP, the International Association of Home Staging Professionals, and have revitilized the regional chapter. Both are on the board of the Fresno IAHSP Chapter; Tom is president, and Joy is membership. They enjoy the mountain of information they get each year from attending the annual IAHSP conventions.
Their philosophy on Home Staging is simple: Do what needs to be done to get the house sold. They believe that putting a $400 piece of furniture in a room can make the room look just as good as putting in a $4,000 piece of furniture. They believe that each space has an energy and a flow, and their job is to enhance that. They understand that neutral colors appeal to the broadest spectrum of buyers, and that color has an important emotional impact and needs to be used. They know that bringing in elements of nature can improve a home's health and its selling points. They believe in providing their customers with more than they bargained for.
